The end of the journey.

Here I am, nearly two months from the time I began my amazing journey to Cajamarca, Peru. What a summer this has been! My experiences definitely surpassed all expectations I had and the people I had the opportunity to meet filled my life with such joy and love. The trip home was a heart breaker, many tears were shed as Claire and I said our goodbyes to Celso, Gleny, and the Heaths.  I went to Peru leaving behind family and loved ones, with only an acquaintance as a travel partner, and I ended up finding a family away from home.  Although leaving was difficult, the memories made from all the love and laughter made it all worthwhile.

Our group of friends, minus a few. From top left, clockwise: Ivan, Christian, Fernando, Liz, & Tatiana
Edwin was one of our English students. We held classes with him at the Heath's house on Sunday nights. Before we left he gave each of us a painting as a thank you gift.
I will never forget this child.
My last evening with Elio, I did not want to let him go.
The Heath family and Gleny. Claire and I could not have been more blessed by this family. A lifelong friendship was created here and I love them all dearly.
Saying our goodbyes. A little silliness helped ease the sadness of having to leave.
Peru taught me how to love and show compassion without limits.  It taught me how to relax and go with the flow and to just enjoy life in the present moment.  I learned that family is not always created through bloodlines and that having a bunch of "things" does not bring true happiness.  People and love bring happiness.  Jesus Christ brings true joy.

Thank you again to everyone who has supported and/or prayed for me during this journey.  It was an incredible ride and my heart longs to be able to return again one day.

Lots of love, Kelly
